Sox Sign Stephen Drew For The Same Deal He Turned Down This Offseason Costing Himself 4 Million Dollars….Sweet Agenting By Scott Boras
ESPN – The Boston Red Sox have agreed with shortstop Stephen Drew for the remainder of the 2014 season, pending a physical, two baseball sources confirmed. He will make about $10 million, which is the prorated portion of the $14.1 million he would have received if he had accepted Boston’s qualifying offer in the offseason, a source told ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick. Drew has been working out regularly and participating in baseball activities with a trainer assigned to him by agent Scott Boras. The expectation in Drew’s camp is that it would take him not much more than a week to be ready to play in the majors.
Sweet agenting here by Scott Boras. The old let’s turn down the 14 million dollar deal and then accept it 5 months later for a prorated season costing my client 4 million. Awesome job Scott. I’m glad Drew is back, but he has to fire Boras now right? Has to. He basically stuck his hand in his back pocket and robbed him blind. Even though this kind of fucked us it sort of still brings a smile to my face.
